20 September 2017Knocknagael – Tomatin Overhead Line
The application under section 37 of the Electricity Act 1989 for the Knocknagael to Tomatin overhead transmission line project has now been determined and we welcome the decision by the Scottish Government to approve our application. In our application for consent we identified and committed to environmental mitigation and a detailed environmental management plan which will ensure construction impacts are minimised. We will now prepare for the construction phase and are fully committed to keeping the local community and other interested parties updated as the project progresses.

An updated Construction Traffic Management Plan (01 CTMP including Appendix 1 and 2 - attached) has now been re-submitted to The Highland Council due to the change in location of the Contractors site offices. The new location is; MSVE Site Compound Office B851, Milton of Farr, Farr, Inverness, Scotland, IV2 6XB E.268572 N.832592
Contracts for the Overhead Line works are due to be signed on Monday 18 September and our Contractor will begin mobilisation (setting up their site offices) from this date. Following site office set-up, the first works to commence are the access points of the public road – the details of which can be found in the attached documents (02 CTMP Appendix 3a, 03 CTMP Appendix 3b and 04 CTMP Appendix 3c). The programme for the Public Road Improvement (PRI) works is also attached (this programme is subject to change but we’ll let you know of any changes).
Following discussions from the last Community Council meeting and as a result of the concerns relating to the B851, Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission and The Highland Council are reviewing the locations of the Public Road Improvement works. Following the review, our intention is to allocate funds to improvement works on the B851 – the location and details are still to be agreed with The Highland Council and a further meeting has been arranged to take place on Tuesday 19 September.
Please see attached Outdoor Access Plan – this document has been produced in response to a pre-commencement condition recommended by The Highland Council ( THC ) to demonstrate how public access will be maintained and managed during construction, in accordance with the Land Reform ( Scotland ) Act 2003. The Outdoor Access Plan has been approved by THC.
The Construction Traffic Management Plan ( CTMP ) outlines information regarding project description, construction process, construction traffic routes and traffic generation details. The Construction Traffic Management Plan has been submitted to THC although we are awaiting their response in relation to this.
The attachments are mostly maps and drawings showing access roads and the like. It is a fairly large chunk of information and takes several hours to read through and understand. It is required reading if you want to understand what is going to happen so I think that it should all go onto the SNCC web page.
