Beauly to Tomatin Overhead Line

Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission PLC, part of SSE, owns and maintains the electricity transmission network in the in the north of Scotland.

We are investing in a number of upgrades to the electricity transmission network which will reinforce the network and allow extra capacity for new generators of electricity to connect to the network. For this reason, we are planning to develop:

-     a new 275,000 volt overhead line between Knocknagael and Tomatin

-     a replacement 132,000 volt overhead line between Beauly and Knocknagael

-     a new electricity substation at Tomatin

-     an extension to the existing substation at Knocknagael near Inverness

Although the proposals are at an early stage, we would like to get views from the local community and interested parties.   For that reason, we are holding public consultation exhibitions to outline our plans and provide local residents the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments. Comments provided will then be considered as part of the development process.
