Farr Play Park Re-opens

Farr Play Park reopened on 3rd October 2016, after having been closed for approximately 2 months, while it was equipped with new features, and a shelter.

In October 2014, the Highland Council (THC) approached the community, pointing out that much of the equipment in the play park was at the end of its design life. Although THC had maintained the equipment in the park for a number of years, it was under no obligation to fund the replacement of the equipment.

Accordingly, the Farr Baby and Toddler Group (FBTG), working with THC, prepared a new design for the play park with feedback from parents, and the children of Farr Primary, Daviot Primary, and Drummond Schools. The equipment and installation services were to be paid for by the Strathnairn community, but ordered via THC’s Framework Agreement, with construction supervised by THC and the FBTG.

In November 2015, the FBTG approached the SCBF for full funding, pointing out that drawing on other funding external to the community, would reduce funds for play park equipment elsewhere. Full funding was awarded in January 2016.

There will be an official opening of the new play park on 28th October 2016 at 10am.
